I'm rather new to this game so I have not had the chance to fully explore it yet, but I have not come across any mini games such as fish trawler, gnome ball or any of the others of Runescape I think they would be good fun for all to enjoy.
Maybe build an arena which houses all the mini games almost like the Olympic games but in Pattonscape form :-) and have a portal at home to transport players there. so then those who don't want to play mini games are free to totally avoid them.
